EMU Hosted 4th Engraving Days

4th EMU Engraving Days Workshop took place between 17 and 22 April 2015 under the organisation of EMU Fine Arts Club and the curatorship of the club trainer Ayhatun Ateşin. On the final day of the workshop, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and Vice Rector for Student Affairs  Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan observed the artists’ work at the workshop site. Artist and academic staff member Umut Germeç thanked Prof. Dr. Osam for the university’s hospitality and sensitivity towards arts and signed his book entitled “Engravings of İstanbul” for Prof. Dr. Osam.

Expressing the importance the university gives to art-related events, Prof. Dr. Osam stated that they will be closely following the artistic organisations taking place on the campus. Stating that staying away from arts may create problems in the personality development of individuals, Prof. Dr. Osam also stressed the importance of the continuation of events as such and put forth that they will spend their best efforts in facilitating similar organisations.  

Works of art produced within the framework of the workshop will be exhibited at EMU Social and Cultural Activities Directorate under the title of “Engravings of Famagusta” at 4:30 p.m. on  24 April 2015. The workshop which created a platform bringing together art lovers, arts students and famous artists hosted over 100 individuals and artists Artin Demirci, Umut Germeç, Mustafa Öztunç, Kadir Selçuk Yaşa, Mediha Sevinç, Hikmet Uluçam, Mesut Eren, İlkay Önsoy, Cevdet Alparslan, Nurtane Karagil, İpek Denizli Karagöz and Ayhatun Ateşin. Works of art produced within the framework of the organisation will be added to the collection of EMU.
