EMU SCT Continues to Deliver Vocational Training Programs

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) School of Computing and Technology (SCT) continues its vocational programs with a training programme directed towards university’s administrative personnel. EMU is providing education regarding foreign languages and technology both for the general public and its staff as part of its mission to provide quality services. In this respect, 22 members of staff attended the computer training, organized as a result of a collaboration between EMU Personnel Affairs Directorate and EMU SCT.

The third part of the vocational training program was delivered by Yesim Kapsil Cirak, member of staff from the Computer Technology and Informatics Program and Ozlem Gokhan Evre from the Computer Centre. The vocational program included training on Office Programs and their practices. After evaluation scheduled to take place at the end of the program the attendants will be presented their certificates of achievement.

In his statement, Director of EMU SCT Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilkan noted that one of the roles of higher education is to provide public services. Underlining the fact that the EMU is the first and only state university in North Cyprus, Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Ilkan stated that the EMU continues to fulfill its responsibility regarding the provision of educational programs for different groups and individuals with the aim of increasing the quality of the service sectors. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilkan went on to point out that SCT is leading the way in EMU in terms of providing public services, noting public service is a mission of the SCT. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ilkan also stated education regarding the internet and internet applications is going to be offered to those attending the organization alongside the education they are receiving regarding Office applications.

Noting that quality educational services can only be provided by educated and fully equipped personnel, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ilkan highlighted the fact that EMU is providing educational programmes for general public as well as their own personnel in a number of different areas with the aim of increasing the quality of services. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ilkan also listed previous courses held including a banking course, a teachers’ course and a course for local governors.  He also noted that cyber security courses were delivered to EMU staff members in order to ensure safe computer usage. Finally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ilkan noted that the second part of the education programme directed towards T.R.N.C. local governors is set to take place during the upcoming days.
