Father and Son, Two Generations at EMU

The most prestigious science nest of TRNC, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) has welcomed the second generation. Adel Masaad, a 1994 graduate of EMU Faculty of Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department with student number 881195 on 1988, visited EMU after all these years to register his son Mahmoud Masaad to EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine. The members of the Jordanian family were extremely excited when they visited EMU together. EMU graduate Adel Masaad currently works for the US-based leading global energy company Gulf Region Power Services as the Managing Director.

"EMU Responded in Only Two Days"

Adel Masaad answered our questions about why his son decided to study in EMU while their family is living in Jordan. Stating that there is a very good university close to their house, Masaad however recommended the university he graduated to his son and he explained his motivation for this as his confidence for EMU to be the best experience for his son. And he mentions another important reason for why his son preferred EMU as EMU Registration playing an important role in their decision by responding to their application in only two days. Masaad said that he did not visit TRNC since his graduation however he kept track of EMU growing to a leading international university and he never broke ties with his school mates.

"No University in the World Grew This Fast!"

Adel Masaad stated that it was hard to live in Famagusta back in 1990s and in that period, the students could only live in Maraş or Suriçi districts. Also underlining that transportation being a huge problem in those years, Masaad said that some of the students had to leave the country because they were not able to adapt to the challenging city life in Famagusta. Masaad stated that he knew EMU as much as the information available on internet meanwhile searching the best university for his son. Masaad could not hide his excitement while comparing EMU in 1988 with today. Masaad says, “I could not believe my eyes when I came to the EMU Campus after all those years. The transformation of Famagusta and EMU is unbelievable. It was hard to convince myself about how big the campus was. The foundation of all these new faculties, departments, programs that received international accreditations creates a great difference for EMU when compared to other universities. There is no other university in the world that grew this fast.”

"I am Proud to Be an EMU Graduate"

Besides all the difficulties between 1988-1994, stating that EMU still was able to provide them a magnificent student environment and that they have spent great years in TRNC, Masaad continues, “This is one of the main reasons I wanted my son to study in EMU. The university has developed admirably in transportation, campus and educational quality. I am proud to be an EMU graduate. This university has contributed greatly to me. I am sure that my son will graduate from EMU as a great medic and will have a far better university experience than I had. I am also proud that my son will study at my university. I would like to thank all rectors, vice rectors, academicians and administrative personel who have played an important role in the amazing development of this university.”
