Project Entitled “Would You Hold My Hand?” Discussed in “It’s Time for Community Involvement” Program

This week’s TV program entitled “It’s Time for Community Involvement” taking place under the moderatorship of Eastern Mediterranean University Education Faculty Educational Sciences Department academic staff member, social services specialist and Community Involvement Center executive board member Barış Başel hosted EMU Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department’s students Berkay İncel, Aykut Atlı and Engin Köroğlu. During the program, the project entitled “Would You Hold My Hand?” was discussed.

Barış Başel stated that within the framework of the Community Involvement course and with the support of the Youth Centers operating under the Department of Youth, pictures produced by students receiving education at İrfan Nadir Disabled Rehabilitation Center have been transformed to postcards and are on sale now. Başel put forth that the income obtained from the postcard sales is much more than they expected and will be used to build an extra class for the center.

Students of EMU Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department, Community Involvement Course, who contributed to the project expressed their views about the course. Students believe that different from other courses, Community Involvement Course provided them with a unique experience and also showed them that even individuals with certain challenges may achieve a lot if they are given the right opportunity.

During the same program. Barış Başel also talked about the important steps Eastern Mediterranean University has taken in becoming a “Barrier-Free Campus”.
