"Quality Standards" were Discussed in "Environment and Human" Program

This week’s “Environment and Human” TV program taking place under the moderatorship of Eastern Mediterranean University Arts and Sciences Faculty, Biological Sciences academic staff member and Underwater Research and Imaging Center Chair Assist. Prof. Dr. Burak Ali Çiçek and  Deep Dive Diving Center Director Erol Adalıer hosted Quality Standards Consultant Özlem Numanoğlu.

The program which started with Erol Adalıer’s weekly review.  Adalıer  gave information about the “Turtle Hospital” which will be finalised in a week’s time in EMU Beach Club. Adalıer also talked about ongoing security, organisational and cleaning work taking place as part of the summer preparations.

Following Adalıer, Quality Standards Consultant Özlem Numanoğlu talked about her observations regarding the quality standards in varous businesses in Cyprus. Numanoğlu stated that in TRNC, many family companies exist and they are in need of institutionalisation. Numanoğlu also gave information on the types of quality standards such as ISO 9001-2008. Numanoğlu stressed the importance of both institutionalisation and harmonisation in terms of international standards and  put forth that 14001 certification is related with the environment, 18001 is related with work security, and 22000 certification is to do with safe food production. Numanoğlu gave information about the number of benefits the aforementioned certificates may bring for the businesses. Finally, Numanoğlu stressed the importance of seeking certification for state institutions.
