Students of EMU Develop “Fingerprint Based Attendance System”

Eastern Mediterranean University, Engineering Faculty, Computer Engineering Department students Esma Şenses and Mahmut Sevince received the best project certificate for their graduation project entitled “Fingerprint Based Attendance System”.

Students of Eastern Mediterranean University, Engineering Faculty, Computer Engineering Department are required to complete their graduation projects carried out within the last two semesters of their studies in order to fulfill their graduation conditions. The said projects are developed in line with the ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) criteria.

In this respect, Esma Şenses and  Mahmut Sevince’s joint project developed during the 2015 - 2016 Academic Year received the best project certificate.

The said students presented their graduation projects to their advisor Assist. Prof. Dr. Adnan Acan, Department Chair Prof. Dr. Işık Aybay and Vice Dean of Faculty of Engineering Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ünveren.

The “Fingerprint Based Attendance System’ prototype has the quality of operating both on mobile phones, PCs and laptops. The system enables the user to take attendance in class and at workplaces. Through the said system, students or employees may be monitored throughout the day in an automated fashion. Records may be followed through PCs, mobile phones or other systems. The designed system is user-friendly and mobile. During the upcoming days, EMU is planning to apply to other organisations to spread the usage of the said system.

Leader of the project group Esma Şenses stated that the project which took a year to finish has successfully turned into a professional job opportunity. Şenses also put forth that the product which is portable and low in cost will have high preferability within the sector. Mahmut Sevince stated that after improving the visibility of the project, they will introduce it to the market. Students of the project group also expressed their happiness in belonging to the EMU community and added that it is due to the high quality education they received that they achieved success.
