Applications continue for the Turkish World 2nd International Documentary Film Festival and Contest” organized by the Turkic World Journalists Federation, and supported by a number of public institutions, non-governmental organizations and the business world. Project partners include the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Morphou Municipality and Beyarmudu Municipality from the TRNC. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam is a member of the Festival Advisory Committee and the highest ranking films will be screened at EMU.

Applications Continue

In a statement he released, Turkic World Journalists Federation President Menderes Demir stated that applications are ongoing and that the last day to apply is the 18th of August 2017. Demir also indicated that the results of the competition spanning Turkey and Turkish states will be announced on the 9th of September whilst an award ceremony will be taking place in Istanbul on the 23rd of the same month.

Screenings at the EMU Communication Faculty

The last day to apply is the 12th of August and the results of the pre-selection committee will be announced on the 9th of September 2017 after its eliminations. The TRNC leg of the screenings that will take place in numerous centers, will include screenings at the Eastern Mediterranean University, the Morphou Municipality and Beyarmudu Municipality on 6 and 7 October. Screenings of student work, workshops and talks will also be taking place at the EMU Communication and Media Studies Faculty, Cinema and Television Department within the scope of the event.

The other screening locations and dates are as follows: 13-14 October Baku State University, 19-20 October Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, 26-27 October Kazakistan Al Farabi University, 30-31 October Kyrgyz Turkish Manas University and  6-7 November University of Sarajevo.

Great Opportunity for Cinema Students

In her statement, EMU Communication and Media Studies Faculty, Cinema and Television Department Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahire Efe Özad invited all students and academic staff to the festival underlining that the Turkish World  International Documentary Film Festival being screened at EMU is a big opportunity for students. Indicating that the screenings, workshops and talks within the scope of the festival are useful activities for the students to discover their own skills and talents, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özad gave the good news that the Department will continue organizing similar activities throughout the semester.
