The focus of the course is to provide students with knowledge and an understanding of the philosophical, theoretical, methodological and ethical issues in research. In addition, the course will provide students with help to develop academic reading skills, literature review writing skills, skills in identifying research approaches and strategies, skills in research design, data collection, data analysis, interpretation and the presentation of research findings. Thus, the aim of the course is to give students an insight into the research process from design to the production of new knowledge.

TOUR502 Strategic Management for Tourism and Hospitality Industry

This is a challenging course that focuses on how firms formulate, implement, and evaluate strategies. This course aims to make students use all the knowledge obtained from past courses (e.g., tourism and hospitality operations, marketing management, organizational behavior, and financial management), coupled with new strategic management techniques learned, for charting the future direction of service organizations. Thus, students are expected to discuss a number of case studies and come up with suggestions for business practice.

TOUR503 Managerial Accounting for Tourism and Hospitality Industry

This course focuses on the use of financial information for managerial decision making in the international hotel and tourism industry. This course develops the students’ ability to use accounting techniques as an aid to planning and controlling operations as well as giving an understanding of company accounting/reporting process. At the end of this course, the students will be able to measure business performance through the use of strategic performance measurement techniques, prepare profit planning frameworks, understand and set business budgets, and use contemporary pricing issues in making decisions
