A Meaningful Project from the International Students of EMU

With the contributions of the International Office operating under Eastern Mediterranean University Vice Rector’s Office for International Affairs, a group of international students carried out a project involving children residing in Maraş Region of Famagusta.

The first activity of the project was a concert which was organised for the children who live in Maraş region which is away from social activities. During the concert which was attended by the children and their families who reside in the aforesaid region, Belarusian student Alexandra Prima, who visited our country within the framework of the International Summer School, amazed the audience with the Turkish songs she sang. During the first phase of the project carried out by Elinwa Ugochukwu K., Alexandra Prima and John Ogbeba, children were provided with the opportunity of spending a day full of entertainment and music. Vice Rector for International Affairs Prof. Dr. Majid Hashemipour demonstrated his support for the students taking part in the project by attending the concert.

EMU students plan to convert a small building to a “Children’s Center” so that children residing in the region can make valuable use of their time after school. Students of EMU will give foreign language courses free-of-charge in the prospective “Children’s Center” which will also include a library and a play hall.
