The ‘Care for the Elderly’ project, organised by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School ‘Social Responsibility Projects’ Team Leader and faculty member Mehşen Ercanlar and lead by academic staff members Şerife Nalbantoğlu, Mehşen Ercanlar and Eylem Akim, held its first observational field trip to Özen Elderly Home in scope of civic involvement.
During this trip, the students got the opportunity to converse, observe and take photographs with the residents of the center. Also, the students and their lecturers acquired information from the Özen Elderly Home staff about life at the center.
Many of the students stated said that they were happy to have visited an elderly home for the first time in their lives and from now on, they wanted to carry out these visits regularly. The students also got to get acquainted with students and lecturers form different groups.
