An Exaltering Success from EMU Health Sciences Faculty Academic Staff Member

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Health Sciences Faculty Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department Academic Staff Member Prof. Dr. Zeki Gökçil’s article titled “Localization Of Ictal Pouting In Frontal Lobe Epilepsy: A Case Report” is published on Epilepsy & Behaviour Case Reports journal’s August 2017 issue.

In his published article, Prof. Dr. Gökçil provides detailed information on his works on epilepsy. Prof. Dr. Gökçil mentioned a 26 year old female patient with epilepsy who was diagnosed at the age of 6, suffering from constant and resistant epileptic attacks despite the use of medicines and provided information on how they found a rarely seen seizure type titled as “ictal pouting”.

Prof. Dr. Gökçil stated that the patient’s MRI test displayed that she suffered from congenital “cortical dysplasia” which is known to be a cellular abnormality and stressed that due to deepened examinations the patient was operated and the epileptic attacks which she suffered despite medications are brought to a halt since 1 year.

In his article, Prof. Dr. Gökçil underlined that “ictal pouting” is a rarely seen condition in medical literature which is significant in determining the seizure area in the brain and that this finding may shed light to diagnosing other patients.
