Organised by the Culture and History Club operating under Eastern Mediterranean University Social and Cultural Activities Directorate, a conference entitled “Christmas in the Middle East” took place at EMU Activity Hall.
The guest speaker of the conference, Archbishop Gabriel Akyüz, explained the meaning of Christmas, Jesus Christ’s birth and how it is celebrated. Talking about the brotherhood of all beliefs, Archbishop Akyüz stressed the importance of not mixing religion and politics with each other. At the end of the conference, Akyüz answered the students’ questions and was presented a plaque of appreciation by the club member Veysi Büyük.
