EMU Visits Iran

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Vice Rector for International Affairs and Promotion Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova and his team organised a series of visits to Iran. During the visits which took place on July 2017 Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova met with Kerman, Gorgan and Guilan University officials and Eghtesad – Iranian Company representatives.

Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova visited Kerman University of Medical Sciences Director of International Relations and Rector’s Advisor Dr. Bakher Amirheidari and the existing collaborations on medicine and pharmacy education programs were discussed. In his address at the university’s graduation ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tanova wished all the graduates great success in their prospective careers. Prof. Dr. Tanova and his team had a meeting with the officials of Gorgan University which has a research center supported by World Heath Organization (WHO). Visiting Gorgan University Agricultural Science Department, laboratories, farms and research centers, Prof. Dr. Tanova expressed his compliments to the crop production and processing approach of the institution. During the said visit, meetings with Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Mehdi Kashaninejad, Director of International Relations Dr. Farhad Khormali and Planning Manager Dr. Farhad Shirani took place.

On the third day of the visits, Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova paid a visit to Gulian University and possible future collaborations regarding Management, Economics and Tourism programs were discussed with the Director of International Office and Head of International and Scientific Cooperation Office Assoc. Dr. Ali Bani and Vice Head of International and Scientific Cooperation Office Soleiman Mohammadi Limaei. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Tanova paid a visit to the Mayor of Rasht city receiving a city tour with him and discussions on how they brought life into the town center and how the long pedestrian walkways were made took place. On the last day of the visits, Prof. Dr. Tanova visited Eghtesad – Iranian which is a company based in Tehran that works to form international partnerships, provides trainings and consultancy to both private and public Iranian organizations, and collaboration opportunities were discussed to hold joint conferences or short term training programs.

Prof. Dr. Tanova expressed his pleasure in visiting Iran as well as thanking all the officials for their hospitality and stated that the visits were very productive by means of information exchanges and EMU’s future collaborations.
