EMU was Represented in the "3rd National Open Access Workshop"

Organised with the aim of exchanging ideas on the dissemination of the scientific publications and research data within TRNC and Turkey via digital archives and specifying the policies, strategies, regulations and open access infrastructure to fulfill the aforesaid objective, “3rd National Open Access Workshop”, hosted by the Turkish Republic Higher Education Board (YÖK), took place in Ankara between 20 and 21 October 2014.

One of the most important agenda items of the meeting was the Higher Education Academic Archive Project which was formerly initiated in January, 2014. During the meeting, developments and targets, achievements and prospective objectives of the aforesaid project were shared with the participants.

The opening address of the workshop was delivered by the Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic Prof. Dr. Ahmet Davutoğlu. During the same day, chair of YÖK Prof. Dr. Gökhan Çetinsaya also delivered a speech. Eastern Mediterranean University was represented in this important event by EMU Library Director Osman Soykan who delivered a presentation entitled “EMU’s Institutional Archive and Open Access Processes” within the framework of the session entitled “Good Practice”.

During the two-day workshop, institutional archives established under different universities as well as open access processes and the Higher Education Academic Archive Project (YAAP) were discussed.
