New Accreditation Projects from EMU SCT

As the first and only Vocational School of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Eastern Mediterranean University School of Computing and Technology continues to attract students from different corners of the world with high quality vocational study opportunities.

Following the accreditation of EMU SCT’s Computer Technology and Information Systems program by German-based accrediting organisation ASIIN and the receival of EuroINF Quality Label from the European Union, the same program has introduced the firsts within the TRNC by  receiving the accreditation of FIBAA, a prestigious organisation accrediting business departments in 28 European Union countries. In this respect, Accounting and Taxation Applications Program and Medical Documentation and Office Management Program have successfully passed the accreditation process and were awarded FIBAA accreditation for a period of five years.

New Accreditation Projects

Eastern Mediterranean University School of Computing and Technology, Electrical and Electronics Technology (2 and 3 year), Computer Programming (2 and 3 year), Construction Technology (2 and 3 year), Mapping and Cadastral Survey (2 year) undergraduate programs and Information Technologies postgraduate program are undergoing the accreditation process of ASIIN between 24 and 28 August and 8 and 12 September 2015.

Accreditation is the process to ensure that the third party meets, and maintains minimum standards of quality and integrity regarding academics, administration, and related services. Highlighting the equality and high correspondence level of the programs offered by Eastern Mediterranean University School of Computing and Technology with similar educational programs in the EU countries, EMU SCT director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa İlkan stressed that the internalisation and international accreditations are crucial factors playing an important role in the sustainability of the higher education programs. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa İlkan  also stated that accreditation should not be perceived as a club membership as it requires a serious process of evaluation and inspection as well as the production of annual reports. According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlkan, accreditation is indeed a dynamic process.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlkan added that EMU SCT is an EDEXCEL approved center also boasting academic staff members holding the European Computer Driving Licence Certificate.

Putting forth that all programs of the School of Computing and Technology have been accredited by the Turkish Board of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK), Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlkan added that the school will increase its momentum in the path to internalisation and quality assurance.
