Rector of EMU Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam Attended Important Meetings in Ankara

Eastern Mediterranean University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and a group of officials from EMU travelled to Ankara to hold various meetings with important institutions and organisations. During the said visit, Prof. Dr. Osam visited the Turkish Board of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Middle East Technical University (METU) and attended meetings with the president of the Turkish Board of Higher Education Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç and Rector of METU Prof. Dr. Ahmet Acar.

In the meeting with the Turkish Board of Higher Education, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Osam provided detailed information about the university’s past and development as well as its current situation. Stating Eastern Mediterranean University’s importance as the most prominent university of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Prof. Dr. Osam also highlighted the international qualities of the university with a special stress on the current student population from 98 different countries, prestigious accreditations and collaboration agreements. Prof. Dr. Osam also stressed the importance of the accreditations, quality in higher education and the dissemination of information in different locations and asked for Prof. Dr. Saraç’s support in this regard.

Following the visit to the President of the Turkish Board of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Osam and visiting officials paid a visit to the rector of METU Prof. Dr. Ahmet Acar and exchanged information on the prospective academic collaborations between the two universities. During the meeting, important topics such as academic staff exchange and the Technopark Project were also among the topics of discussion.

Prof. Dr. Osam stated his pleasure in the positive outcomes of Ankara trip and added that Eastern Mediterranean University will further grow with new collaborations and openings.
