Students of EMU Organised Social Responsibility Projects for Elementary School Students

Eastern Mediterranean University Community Involvement Center organised social responsibility projects entitled “Personal Hygiene and Personal Care” and “Furry Friends” under the supervision of EMU academic staff member Barış Başel.

The first project took place under the organisorship of EMU students Güzide Altıparmak, Tuba Çekok and Bahar Gür and aimed to give information on “Personal Hygiene and Personal Care” to the students of Famagusta Gazi Elementary School.

The aforesaid students who took part in the project, visited the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students and provided detailed information on  how to protect oneself from viruses and bacteria.

Gazi Elementary School Vice Principal Şevki Pırlanta, who also took an active part in the event, stated his views on the importance of the project and thanked all those who organised it.

The second project entitled “Furry Friends” was organised by EMU Education Faculty, Psychological Guidance and Counseling 4th year students Hatice Aslanoğlu, Ayşenur Kayıran, Ümit Kocasakal, Kazım Erman Akdağ, Kadir İnan and Oğuzhan Asil Yücesoy. The project which took place within the framework of the Community Involvement Course delivered by EMU academic staff member Barış Başel was carried out at EMU Social and Cultural Activities Directorate, Activity Hall.

Within the framework of the project “Furry Friends”, students of Gazi Elementary School watched a movie entitled “Hachiko”. Through the aforesaid movie which gave the message of showing respect towards  animals, students discovered the ways on how to treat animals in a humanistic way.

Prior to the film screening, students of Gazi Elementary School were asked to draw pictures of “Furry Friends”. The owners of the best three pictures received various prizes.
