Students of EMU Tourism Faculty Support Dogs in Shelters

Students of Eastern Mediterranean University Tourism Faculty visited Famagusta Dog Shelter under the coordinatorship of Eastern Mediterranean University Community Involvement Center Executive Board Member Dr. Nazenin Ruso.

Before the visit, students organised a charity event where calendars were sold for 10 TL each. During the said visit, the students donated the shelter 630 TL, the amount raised during the charity organisation. The shelter managers extended their appreciation for the donation and stated that new dog kennels will be bought with it. Students also donated the said shelter dog kennels provided  by sponsors.

Sarah Purcell, one of the volunteers working at the shelter, stated that she recommends people to adopt dogs from shelters instead of buying them from petshops. Students involved in the project put forth that their aim is to support the animals, spend quality time with them and raise public awareness regarding the existence of animals as such.
