Prof. Jacobs noted that even 5 years after the 11th March 2011 Fukushima Nuclear Accident resulting from the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, the effects of the accident are very visible. Noting that there is no life in a 30 meters radius of the nuclear power plant, Prof. Jacobs stated that this region is completely deserted. During the seminar Prof. Jacobs also spoke about other nuclear accidents such as the one at the Chernobyl Reactor and the effects of such disasters on human life.
