Three New Programs Available at EMU Faculty of Health Sciences

The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Health Sciences continues its rapid growth without compromising its quality. The faculty is now offering undergraduate programs in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation as well as Nutrition and Dietetics. The programs will be available in the 2016-2017 Academic Year and will be delivered in English. In addition to the undergraduate programs, the fırst Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation PhD program in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will also be available at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehtap Malkoc noted that all of the new programs have been approved by the Council of Higher Education. Prof. Dr. Malkoc, also stated that the faculty will continue its growth without compromising its quality.

Prof. Dr. Malkoc stated that the Faculty of Health Sciences took its first step into academic life in the 2010-2011 Academic Year by accepting students to the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Department of Nursing. In the 2011-2012 Academic Year, the Faculty of Health Sciences started offering new programs such as Sports Sciences and Health Management which were the very first in TRNC. 

Prof. Dr. Malkoc underlined the steady yearly growth of the Faculty, providing a reminder that in the 2012-2013 Academic Year, the faculty kept growing by establishing the School of Health Services. In the same year, the faculty started accepting students to the Associate Degree of First and Emergency Aid as well as Anesthesia. In the 2013-2014 Academic Year, Associate Degrees in Dialysis, Physiotherapy, Elder Care and Oral and Dental Health were made available at the School of Health Services. Prof. Dr. Malkoc concluded her remarks by stating that the Faculty of Health Sciences has become a great educational institution educating students to become Healthcare Professionals and Health Technicians.
