GNDR501 Feminist Theories - I

The aim of the course is to introduce and enrich students’ understanding of some of the central theoretical orientations and debates on gender studies. This course will analyze and compare major feminist social and political theories, including those that have emerged from liberal, socialist, Marxist, radical and Muslim feminist traditions. The relationship among theories of sexism and political goals and practices will be discussed with an aim to increase the sensitivity of the students to the importance of understanding gender in relation to other important social factors such as “race,” class, sexuality, national context, and others.

GNDR502 Feminist Theories - II

The aim of the course is to introduce, in some cases, and enrich, in other cases, students’ understanding of some of the central theoretical orientations and debates which have defined Women’s/Gender Studies. This theoretical overview will be an analysis of Postmodern and Post-structural Feminism, transnational feminism, as well as various theories concerning feminist epistemology. One important theme running through the course is the definition of and distinction between gender and sex, paying special attention to the way these ideas have been conceptualized differently and have been revised in phenomena.

MGMT588 Research Methods for Business Studies

The purpose of this course is to teach students with basic knowledge of statistics to analyze data using a popular statistical software package. Students will gain sufficient acquaintance with SPSS to conduct data analyses, estimate population parameters, fit basic linear models and conduct hypotheses tests on experimental data. Many forms of data management and analyzes including data entry, auditing, imputation, coding, recoding, descriptive analyzes, t-test, ANOVA, regression, correlation, reliability analysis and data transformation will also be covered. By the end of the course, students should be able to conduct an analysis of data generated in a survey or experiment and give a presentation of the results of the analysis.
