Introduction to Sociology (YONT103)
The principal aim ofthe course is lo provide the students with a basic understanding ofthe domain of sociology as a social science discipline. lt places a parlacular emphasis on a general understanding ofthe corc concepls of sociology and key societal struclures such as the family, reliqion, educataon, science and technology, economic and political institutions. The course begins with an analysis otscience and lhe scientiUc methoa of invesligation. The notion of culture, personality and personality development, role, and stalus, social order and social control, socaal class and mobility are analyzed and presented. The course ends with a discussion ofthe theories and processes ol socio-cultural change.
