EMU’s Meaningful Contribution to the LTB Women’s Shelter on 8 March International Women’s Day

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Press Executive Board Director Prof. Dr. Şebnem Hoşkara and EMU Center for Women’s Studies (EMU CWS) Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süheyla Üçışık Erbilen visited Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) on the occasion of 8 March International Women’s Day. During the visit, Prof. Dr. Hoşkara and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Üçışık Erbilen presented LTB Mayor Mehmet Harmancı a series of books and periodicals related to women studies published by EMU Press to be used by women and children residing at the LTB Women’s Shelter.

In line with the 2030 Global Goals set by the United Nations and within the scope of the 8 March 2023 International Women’s Day theme of “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”, women themed publications selected from EMU publications presented to the use of LTB Women’s Shelter residents. Due to the difficulties they face, inequalities, abuse and/or violence, it is aimed to create opportunities for women and their children to work, research, learn and develop themselves in a contemporary environment, in a way that will also provide access to the technologies of the day.

A selection of books and periodicals focusing on women and gender equalities prepared by EMU CWS and published by EMU Press were also presented to the Cyprus Turkish Bar Association Nicosia Bar, Kyrenia Bar and Güzelyurt Bar Associations.
