Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Industrial Engineering Department 2003 graduate Mazen Kalach from Beirut has recently been appointed as the regional sales manager of Dubai-centered Daimler Middle East’s  Mercedes-Benz Military Vehicles Middle East and North Africa.

Sharing his happiness on his new appointment with EMU Industrial Engineering Department, Mazen Kalach put forth that not only he received high quality education in English at his department but he also had a chance to get to know different cultures in a multicultural and multinational environment, all of which have brought him important privileges at international firms.

Expressing his gratitude to EMU and Industrial Engineering Department for equipping him with professional skills, Kalach stated that studying at EMU is a unique opportunity. EMU Industrial Engineering Department Chair Assist. Prof. Dr. Gökhan İzbırak stated that Industrial and Business Engineers do not only pursue employment opportunities at factories where production takes place, but may also work at the service sector (consultancy, transportation, energy, logistics, finance, banking, hospitals, brand management, software, tourism, education, telecommunication, marketing and human resources) and construction companies.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Gökhan İzbırak also added that students of EMU Industrial Engineering Faculty receive job offers even before they graduate, thanks to the international quality of the program which holds the prestigious accreditation of  ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology – www.abet.org). It is worth mentioning that apart from Eastern Mediterranean University, only 4 universities within Turkey are accredited by ABET.

EMU Industrial Engineering Department also offers double degree opportunities to successful students. In this respect, students may study an extra semester and receive Mechanical or Business Degree in addition to Industrial Engineering Degree. Having produced its first graduates in 1998, EMU Industrial Engineering Department brings up qualified graduates who pursue employment opportunities as administrators at production, service and construction sectors. The department also boasts a considerable number of graduates who have pursued postgraduate study opportunities at top level universities such as MIT and Cambridge.
