Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) is taking another step forward for an animal friendly campus. EMU Animal Welfare Club and Neuter-Vaccinate-Let Live volunteers are organizing a walk titled “"Don’t Buy, Adopt! Don’t Leave, Own” on Tuesday, the 25th April 2017. The said walk will be starting from the EMU Sabancı Dormitories.

EMU Animal Welfare Club initiated the “Neuter - Vaccinate – Let Live” project with the aim of improving the situation of stray animals and has regularly been providing food and care for campus animals. During the project more than 80 dogs, both male and female, have been neutered so far. As part of the project which has been supported by the EMU Rector’s Office since the very beginning ill, pregnant, old and new born animals on campus are being taken care of at the temporary facilities. The Club Chair and EMU Faculty of Architecture student Beril Uluer stated that the walk will be open to the Famagusta public and that they  hope to receive many more volunteers for the social responsibility project. Club Consultant and Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School academic staff member Faika Güresun thanked her colleagues and all EMU personnel for their financial support, stating that they are successfully maintaining the protection of stray animals based on the understanding of them living together with humans. The EMU Rector’s Office stated that they will continue their support for the project which should be taken as an example by other Turkish Cypriot universities as well as institutions and individuals in all walks of life.
